I am a 40-yr old mom of three. I have had what feels like lifelong knee problems. I am undergoing ACI surgery next month and extremely anxious about it. This will be my sixth knee surgery, combining both knees. I had a PCL reconstruction on my right knee when I was 19, and based on my terrible recollection, this was probably most painful experience of my life - including giving birth to three children. Since then, I have always had problems with my knees, both right and left. I have had three arthroscopic surgeries in the past two years - one to my right knee and two to my left knee. The left knee continues experiencing problems, so I have decided to undergo this surgery in hopes of preventing a full knee replacement. Went back to the Dr. this week in hopes either he would talk me out of it or I would talk him out of it. No such luck. I am so worried about the rehab/recovery process. Will stay out of work for 2 1/2 weeks and then hopefully go back. Crutches for 6 weeks - so there goes my summer, and a brace for 8. Really concerned over not recovering my motion, but after all is said and done, I hope this will solve my problems, and that my right knee is strong enough to handle the recovery of my left.
I've been reading other people's posts and hope that posting my journey along the way might help others as they look for information on this topic.
My surgery is scheduled for July 20th and I will post an update after that.
